Culinary knowledge is essential for a food photographer.

It is impossible to create exactly that unique food picture if the food photographer misses the essence of the dish.

Therefor Food Photography is called one of  the hardest specializations within the territory of photograhy.

Dutch Food Photographer Martijn Smit from Culishots.com is since his childhood fascinated by gastronomy and photography.

Since 1995 he follows cooking lessons at Michelin Chef Henk Savelberg and Gijs Verbeek (Savelberg Restaurant,  1 Michelin star) and at Chef Ruben Dieten (Brasserie NL).

During his scholarship at the Dutch Photography Academy he realized that the combination of gastronomy and photography  merged his two "passions for life" 

Martijn Smit is now fully specialized in food photography. Inherent in this discipline are hotel & restaurant interior photography, virtual tours, 360 ° panoramas and product photography also part of his working territory.

In September 2012 his first cookbook came out.
